6500 suoni per il Duomo

On Wednesday 22 April at 6 pm in the Cathedral, a musical event dedicated to the monumental organs, entitled “6500 Sounds for the Cathedral”, will take place. Admission is free.

This musical event marks the beginning of a new chapter in the care and future of music within the Cathedral. In the heart of Como Cathedral, an evening of music and culture to thank those who have already supported its beauty and to look forward to the future together.

This marks the start of a new phase dedicated to the upcoming conservation work on the monumental organs, so that, thanks to the generosity of many, we may continue to pass on this extraordinary heritage of the entire city and the diocese.

The musical event on 22 April is a journey through music, stories, gratitude and community that the Chapter of Como Cathedral wishes to offer to the city, to open a new chapter of care and future for music in the Cathedral together. Presentations by experts will alternate with the sounds of the monumental organs. Maestro Lorenzo Pestuggia, the cathedral’s principal organist, will perform works by the chapel masters and organists of Como Cathedral from the Baroque period to the 20th century: Pestalozzo, Ricci, Bossi Picchi. It will be an opportunity to deepen one’s understanding of the workings and infinite sounds of the monumental organs, which have resounded in the Cathedral since 1441.
